2025#1
Favoring material, color, broad gestures and wood firing. This inaugural exhibition at Espace Artbausa Crozon brings together five artists - a renowned painter, a metal artist and three no less renowned ceramist-sculptors - each of whom, in his or her own way, approaches the material (stoneware and oil) with strength and energy.

Whether glazed or unglazed, the material is worked in all its thickness and depth, according to rather expressionist canons. Alain Gaudebert's glazed stoneware responds to Anne Slacik's oils on canvas. Both artists share the same desire to probe light, to render its reliefs and explore its color components. Their shared ambition is to portray a landscape, a sky, colors and materials. Hervé Rousseau and Virgile Loyer respond to this profusion of color with raw stoneware ceramics, which, like those of Alain Gaudebert, are wood-fired. It's the "licking of the flames", as they say, that brings color to the pieces. Corten steel is also used. For all, the gesture is important, ample and vigorous. The sculptors varied in their adoption of the principle of works to be placed and that of installation. Their works have the potential to be monumental.
